What is a Producer Company?

A Producer Company is a corporate entity formed by farmers, producers, or agriculturalists to engage in production, harvesting, procurement, processing, marketing, and selling of primary produce or related activities. It combines the benefits of a cooperative society with the regulatory advantages of a private limited company.

Introduced under Section 581 of the Companies Act, 1956, and continued under the Companies Act, 2013, a Producer Company ensures better income, collective bargaining power, and access to credit for rural producers.
